Halloween at Connors

Costume shop Oct 14 + 23 · Dance Oct 29 · Parade Oct 30

  • The free costume shop opens October 14 and 23 from 3 to 5:30pm. Every Connors family is welcome, whether you donated or not. Racks are also in the lobby during conferences on the 21st and Halloween week.
  • The costume dance is Thursday, October 29 in the Connors yard, weather permitting. K and 1st grade dance 6 to 6:50pm, grades 2 to 5 from 7:10 to 8pm. It’s free, siblings are welcome, and it is not a drop-off event. Eat dinner first, and bring headphones if loud music is a lot for your kid.
  • The parade steps off Friday, October 30 at 9am. Kids wear their costumes to school (check the costume guidelines) and circle the block twice. Line 2nd, Madison, 3rd, or Monroe to cheer and take photos.
  • Make an impact, volunteer. Shop shifts, dance setup and cleanup, and snack, drink, or money donations all keep these events free.

  • Connors keeps growing. Enrollment went from 256 in 2019–20 to 367 this year, and is projected to reach about 408 by 2035–36. The building is designed for 348.
  • Two paths for the building. Fixing what’s worn out at Connors would cost about $17 million. A full renovation would cost about $51 million. The district shares its short-term facilities options for every school at a community roundtable on October 26 at 6pm in the Hoboken High School cafeteria.
  • 38 Jackson opens as the Mile Square Pre-K in September 2027. Pre-K classrooms from Wallace move there, children are placed by how close they live, and Connors-area families will likely be assigned to it.
  • A Technology Use Framework is coming before the end of October. Devices stay closed unless kids are using them, YouTube and Spotify are off at the elementary level, keyboarding starts in 2nd grade, and digital citizenship comes in 4th and 5th.
