Get Involved

Volunteer

Many ways to get involved and make an impact. Find what suits you best!

Why Volunteers Matter

The Connors PTO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit run entirely by parent volunteers. That means we can’t do it without you. No experience necessary and no minimum hours. Give whatever time you have, and every bit helps. The best part is what you get back: new friendships, a closer school community, and a front-row seat to your kids’ world.

PTO Liaison (PTOL)

One parent per homeroom who keeps their class connected to each other and the PTO.

Flagship Event

Fall Festival

One of our biggest events and fundraisers of the year: a street fair with games, food, raffle, inflatables, and Coco Koala. The planning committee is set, so this one is all about day-of volunteers for setup, stations, and cleanup.

Three Weeks of Halloween

Halloween

The free Costume Shop, the K-5 Costume Dance, and the costume parade, October 14 through 30. Shifts are open now for costume sorting, working the shop, and every part of the dance. You can also bring snacks and drinks or sponsor the DJ. Connors alumni are welcome to sign up.

Committees

Every committee is powered by parents who show up and make the magic happen. See what fits your schedule and interests.

Sign-ups stay open. Many of these events are months away, so tell us you’re interested whenever you land here.

Expressing interest is the first step, not an automatic spot. Committees have limited room, so we’ll reach out as we build each team.

Celebrate

Halloween Dance

The annual Halloween Dance is a K-5 nighttime costume party. Help with event prep and planning, secure and manage volunteers, setup, decorate, and day-of help. This year’s dance is October 29.

Celebrate

A night celebrating the cultures that make up Connors. Families share food, traditions, and a DJ dance party. Help plan and run the evening, held in the Hoboken High School cafeteria. November 19, 2026.

Family Fun

Bingo Night

Help plan and execute Connors Family Bingo Night in the Connors gym: event prep and planning, collecting prizes, securing and managing volunteers, and day-of, on-site leadership. Planning is mostly December and January, with a heavy focus on the week before and day of (January 28).

Service

Community Service

Help coordinate existing community service projects, like drives for the Hoboken Shelter and Hoboken Food Pantry, and ideate new ways for Connors to give back throughout the year.

Give Back

Thanksgiving Dinner Baskets

Help assemble Thanksgiving dinner baskets for Connors families: preparing and managing the wishlist, collecting and sorting donations, shopping for additional items, and packing everything up for distribution (packing takes place on the morning of November 23). A focused, one-and-done effort in November.

Say Thanks

Holiday Spirit Week

Help make December special for our students and staff: planning the week’s activities, decorating, and coordinating treats and surprises. Some activities will require availability during the school day. A single-focus committee that wraps before winter break.

Say Thanks

Staff Appreciation Week

Help plan and run Staff Appreciation Week: meals, gifts, decorations, and daily surprises to thank the staff who take care of our kids all year. Planning and preparations in April; execution is the first week of May.

Best Day Ever

Field Day

Together with the PTO Officers, help plan and execute Connors Field Day: prepping activities and materials, managing volunteers, and day-of, on-site leadership. Planning is mostly April and May, with a heavy focus on the two weeks before and day of (June 4).

A fun, hands-on day that brings the working world to our kids. Work with Principal Addi to plan and run the event, coordinate and prep parent volunteers, and be on site the day of. Date TBD.

Read

Scholastic Book Fair

Help run our Scholastic Book Fair: setup, working sales shifts after school (typically between 3–6pm), helping students shop, and packing up. Plus: plan and prep the activities that take place during the fair (hot cocoa giveaway, book-themed games, and more). A great fit if you love books and have afterschool availability. Fair week is March 1–5.

Milestone

Kindergarten Moving Up

Plan and execute all Kindergarten end-of-year celebrations alongside the PTO and K teachers: the moving-up ceremony (decor, refreshments, flowers, setup and cleanup), end-of-year gifts for students, and any other Kindergarten year-end festivities. The PTO Officers provide budget and guidance, and the committee largely works independently in May and June to plan and execute. The ceremony is June 16, 2027. For K parents.

Milestone

5th Grade Festivities

Plan and execute all 5th grade end-of-year celebrations: the class trip, the districtwide game night and dance (with other PTOs), the moving-up ceremony (June 17, 2027), and more. Each member leads at least one. The PTO Officers provide budget, guidance, and approvals, but the committee mostly operates on its own throughout the year and can include additional volunteers as needed. For 5th grade parents.
