Halloween happens over a few weeks at Connors. Here is the full schedule.
No food, candy, treats, or goody bags may be sent to school by any family. This includes items to share in class or to send home in backpacks. The PTO will not provide candy either. We have several severe food allergies at school, and during school-wide celebrations, treats become too much to keep track of. Thank you for helping us protect our little ones. Non-candy, non-food items for the whole class are welcome if you would like to send something.
Give a Costume
Costume Collection
September 20 – October 14
- Donate gently used or new costumes. Clean and ready to wear. Baby, child, and adult sizes all welcome. Family costumes are great.
- Drop off any day at the front door, send it with your child for the lobby collection box, or bring it to our October PTO Meeting.
- Bag each costume together. All pieces and accessories in one bag, labeled with the costume name and size.
- Follow the guidelines. Donated costumes must meet the Connors costume guidelines below.

Free Costume Shop
Wednesday, October 14 & Friday, October 23 · 2:30–5:30pm
- Open only to Connors families. Every costume and accessory is free.
- Set up out front on the Monroe Street sidewalk.
- You do not need to have donated to take a costume.
- More chances to shop. Costumes will also be in the Connors lobby on Wednesday, October 21 during Parent-Teacher Conferences, and leftovers stay inside October 26–30 for students, staff, and families to take.
Dance the Night Away
Halloween Costume Dance
Thursday, October 29 · at Connors
- Free and open to all Connors families. No RSVP required.
- Two parties by grade. Grades K+1 from 6:00–6:50pm, Grades 2–5 from 7:10–8:00pm.
- DJ, dancing, activities, and treats. Costumes encouraged for kids and grown-ups.
- This is not a drop-off event. If you have kids in both parties, come to both or pick one.
- Sensitive to loud events? Consider earplugs or noise-reducing headphones for you or your child. We also set aside a separate room with crafts and no loud music, so anyone who needs a quieter break has a place to go.
- Connors alumni can volunteer. Middle school and high school siblings of current students are welcome to sign up.
Lend a Hand
Sign Up to Help
Halloween takes a lot of hands. Pick a shift, bring a snack, or chip in. Every spot helps.
Costume Shop Support
Work alongside a Shop committee leader. No experience required, and it is a good one to do with a friend.
Halloween Dance Volunteers
Thursday, October 29. Dance shifts can be filled by adults or by high school and middle school volunteers.
Donate Goods for the Dance
Note what you are bringing and how much when you sign up.
Drop off by October 28 at the Connors front door, labeled PTO / Halloween. Anything fresh should come the day of the event. Nothing that has to stay cold.
Give Toward the Dance
Prefer to chip in instead of shopping? A donation goes straight to snacks, drinks, decorations, and supplies for the Halloween Dance. Any amount helps, and thank you.
The form may ask about a tip for Zeffy. That’s what keeps it free for us with no fees. The tip is optional, and $0 is completely fine.
Keep It Fun & Safe
Connors Costume Guidelines
Questions about your child's costume? Contact Principal Addi or VP Hamlin.
- Age appropriate for elementary school. Keep costumes respectful and in good taste. Be kind, keep it fun, and be mindful.
- Nothing offensive in terms of race, violence, or ethnic origin.
- Not revealing. No obscene materials or prohibited substances.
- Students must stay recognizable. No costumes that limit vision or create a safety hazard. Masks are not permitted. Face paint is allowed on no more than 50% of the face, so children stay identifiable.
- No props, swords, or toy weapons. These will be removed if brought to school.
March Around the Block
Halloween Costume Parade
Friday, October 30 · 9:00am
- Wear costumes to school. Follow the guidelines above. Families gather outside the building to cheer and take photos as students parade twice around the entire block.
- Where to stand: line up along Monroe, Madison, 3rd Street, or 2nd Street, on the sidewalk border to leave room for students to march. The route goes left out of the playground, left on Madison, left on 3rd, left on Monroe, and left on 2nd. There is plenty of room for everyone.
